- Time
- About 4 hours, says the source
One way, from Brighton to Lewes along the old Jugg's Road, the way the source says was used before 1770 and left to grass over when the toll road, now the A27, was built: up past the racecourse, along the Downs by Kingston, then down through Southover to Lewes station.
The ground
Rated moderate by the source, which says it is unsuitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs. It climbs 154 m and descends 187 m. The source asks for care crossing the road at Drove Avenue and again near Kingston, and says the way crosses the A27 on a bridge.
The line on the map
Drawn through the source's own sixteen grid references (each good to 100 m), in its order.
The route is from Car Free Walks (walk 134, "Brighton to Lewes (Jugg's Road)", by NeilPenn): read it at the source before you go (created 24 September 2007, no update date shown, read 7 November 2026). The line on the map is drawn by What's On Lewes on OpenStreetMap data (ODbL), and nobody from the site has walked it yet.
