A hilly loop from Glynde station up onto Mount Caburn and its National Nature Reserve, down through Southerham Nature Reserve to the Lewes golf club (with an optional detour into Lewes), then across the golf course and Saxon Down, with views of Glyndebourne, and back by Glynde Place. A shortcut is described. The leaflet gives miles and km; it names no pub or cafe, only the Glynde post office.
The ground
Hilly. A steep flight of steps and a path across Lewes golf course, where you must keep to the waymarked line and watch for golf balls; a chalky track past an old quarry; road through Glynde village.
Livestock
The leaflet mentions no livestock.
The line on the map
Includes the out-and-back to the Mount Caburn summit, but between Caburn and the golf club the line keeps to the ridge where the walk drops into the Southerham valley.
The route is from South Downs National Park Authority ('Walks near Lewes and Southease' leaflet): read it at the source before you go (undated). The line on the map is drawn by Lewes Dogs on OpenStreetMap data (ODbL). With a dog? Lewes Dogs has this walk, with the rules and the livestock.
